EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE

 

·        Pursuing a Master’s Degree with an emphasis in Autism.

·        Extensive work in the field of autism.

·        Three (3) years of experience working with autistic children at the system level.

·        Training in various instructional methodologies such as ABA and TEACCH, etc.

·        Evidence of exemplary organizational and communication skills.

·        Demonstrated experience in writing functional behavioral assessments and developing and supervising the implementation of behavior intervention plans.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·        Coordinates and supervises the pre-school special education programs for students with autism and other related communication and behavior disorders.

·        Supervises and evaluates the personnel in the pre-school special education program for children with autism and other related communication and behavior disorders.

·        Consults to IEP teams in the county regarding students’ autism and other related communication and behavior disorders.

·        Develops treatment plans and/or behavior plans for students with autism and other related communication and behavior disorders.

·        Conducts Functional Behavioral Assessments as needed for students with autism and other related communication and behavior disorders.

·        Conducts observations as needed of students in out-of-county placements with autism and other related communication and behavior disorders.

·        Coordinates and supervises the Autism Evaluation Team to ensure that specific psychological assessments used for diagnosing for students suspected of having an autism spectrum disorder are completed.

·        Coordinates training on autism related topics for the school system.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (life, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
