MEDIA  INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT

 QUALIFICATIONS

·        Capacity to perform routine clerical procedures.

·        Excellent human relations skills.

·        Excellent organizational and communications.

·        Basic knowledge of library organization.

·        Good oral and written communication skills.

·        Experience in use and operation of various electronic equipment.          

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

·        Maintains automated circulation system and/or online public access catalog.

·        Shelves books and keeps the media center orderly and inviting.

·        Assists students in developing enjoyment and knowledge of the media center and its resources.

·        Performs other duties as specified by the Library Media Specialist.

·        Carries out media program in the absence of the Library Media Specialist.

·        Regular on-time attendance.

 

 

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

 

·        High School Diploma required.

·        Experience working with children.

·        Basic computer skills.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (life, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
