Charles County
Public Schools accepts applications for substitutes on a year-round basis.
If you are interested in Substitute Teaching and meet the minimum requirements
listed below, please complete either the online application process or the paper
application process as outlined below. If you have questions, please call

Eligibility
Requirements
Candidates
must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for
Substitute Teaching in Charles County Public Schools:

At least 18 years of age; (candidates must be out of High School
for at least 2 years in order to substitute at Middle and High Schools)
·
High School graduate or obtained GED certificate (need to provide
proof of graduation)

Application Process
1.
Complete the Online Application form found at Online
Application.
2.
On the “Applicant Preference” tab, indicate your preference for
“Substitute” work.
3.
On the “Insert” tab, print out THREE copies of the “Support
Personnel Reference” form. Print and sign your name on this form and
give it to three DIFFERENT people that will be providing a professional or
personal reference for you. (References cannot come from family
members.)
4.
Each reference should complete the “Evaluator Instructions”
section and Page 2 of the reference form and submit it by mail to

Application Process
1.
Obtain a paper application and reference forms by visiting the
Human Resources Department at Charles County Public Schools’
2.
Submit the completed application to Human Resources.
3.
Complete Part I of the reference forms and give it to THREE
DIFFERENT people that will be
providing a professional or personal reference for you. (References cannot
come from family members.)
4.
Each reference should complete Part II of the form and submit it by
mail to
Hiring
Process
Once your
completed application and all three references have been received,
a Human Resources representative will contact you to schedule an orientation
class. All substitutes must complete the 3-hour orientation course.
Fingerprinting as well as other paperwork is completed during the orientation
class. There is no cost to the substitute for fingerprint processing.
There is no compensation for attending the orientation class.

Required Documents for Orientation
All of the following are required for
submission at the time of orientation. Please be prepared to bring this
documentation with you when you are scheduled for orientation. Failure to
provide appropriate documentation at orientation may delay your opportunity to
work. For questions about documentation, please contact an Human Resources
representative in the Substitute Office.
